Wolf&Rita – AW 2018
Rhubarb Republik proudly presents the new collaboration with Wolf&Rita and the launch of their new AW 2018 collection FOLK N’ROLL.
This season’s collection is colourfully inspired by Portuguese folklore and popular traditions. In Podence, in the Northern region of Portugal, the reveller Caretos appear every Carnival, running through the streets dressed in suits made of yellow, red, black, blue and green fringe wool quilts, wearing brass, leather or wooden masks and rattles in their belts. They jingle and jump and shout, playfully disquieting everything and everyone! In Nazaré, land of fishermen, the women await their return from the sea, wearing seven skirts, in an allusion to the seven waves of the ocean, the seven days of the week, the seven virtues, the seven colours of the rainbow! And then this colourful palette is given a contemporary twist through Marcel Dzama’s inspired characters and creatures, including dancing tree people and eerie-looking masquerade! With this collection Wolf&Rita hopes to inspire every kid to be a keeper of these traditions, reliving and remodelling it through their innocent eyes and playful charades.
